What Word?

What Word? is a word puzzle for students to guess any 3 to 7-letter words, with a default of 6 attempts. After each guess, the color of the tiles will change to give you clues to the actual word. If it is green, it means the letter is in the word and is in the correct spot. If it is yellow, it means the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot. If it is gray, it means the letter is not in the word at all.

To configure, select a 3 to 7-letter word from your Study Set and add the Activity to your Deck. You just need to have the Term (not definition) to make the game work. Adding an image will make it appear in the background of the game.

This example below is making a copy of the example deck and customizing the word.

As a default, the What Word? game will always select the first active and valid 3 to 7 letter word in your Study Set. Select another word from your study set in this configuration setting. The in-built English dictionary will only work if the selected word is 5-letters long and a valid English word.

If you had selected a word that is not found in the English dictionary and if the word is not 5 letters long, the dictionary will be automatically disabled. To disable the in-built English dictionary, go to Advanced Settings, and enable 'Allow any student's 5-letter word attempt'. This will allow you to key in any word in any language as well with Romanized characters (no accents).

You can also change the maximum number of attempts allowed by the student from the default 6 tries with the dropdown button.

You can launch it as a multiplayer activity from your Deck.Toys Classroom that you can monitor in real-time. You can also let students work on it at their own pace in Free Mode and see their attempts in the Report App.
